Flower Festival

One of the parks in Chiang Mai’s city center was the central location for the weekend-long Flower Festival. The park was decorated with tons of flowers and other decorations.

A butterfly made out of orchids! The top image is a close up of these orchids from one of the butterfly displays.

These huge clusters of lilies, throughout the park, had an absolutely intoxicating scent that wafted through the park. It was divine!

Outside the park, along the street, were stalls with different botanical displays that had been judged for best in show. We loved seeing all the different sizes, colors and shapes of orchids, all the different bonsai and lots of other plants (some familiar and others not)! Here are some of the orchids, bonsai, staghorn ferns and succulents.

Saturday morning was the parade with some amazing large floats made of flowers, Miss Chiang Mai contestants rode on the floats, and different musical and dance groups performed.

We came back at night to see the start of the Miss Chiang Mai Flower Festival competition with musical performances. And we perused more of the street stalls that were selling plants, garden decorations and other things.

How glorious! Floats remind me of the Rose Bowl Parade! But a Butterfly made of all orchids is more than amazing!
