We started October during a long stay in Kyoto, Japan and ended October at a long stay in Denmark. In between, we hiked through the Japanese Alps, saw a bunch of historic villages, walked along the historic footpath connecting Kyoto and Tokyo, and traveled from Tokyo to the port town of Ebeltoft in Denmark. Costs were higher than normal this month; we stayed at some fancy pants places in Japan and had pretty high local transportation costs .
It was pretty tough to leave Japan. We had such an amazing time, right up until the day we left, it’s been the hardest place for us to fly away from. But heading to Europe was pretty exciting! We didn’t expect to even make it beyond Asia/Oceania this year, so this was a bit unexpected. We’re moving slowly through Denmark, while we start preparations for returning to the USA in December and plan out the rest of this year.
