Highlights and Costs of Morocco

We spent 16 days in Morocco. We treated Morocco like a typical 2 week vacation and squeezed in a lot of activities. We started in Marrakesh, before making our way out to the beach-side town of Essaouira. After riding the bus back to Marrakesh, we took a trip through the Atlas mountains out into the Saharan Desert! After yet again returning to our home base of Marrakesh, we took the train to Fez to end our trip. I’m glad we didn’t try to also fit in Chefchaouen (the Blue City that’s all over Instagram), we were plenty busy.

Favorite things about Morocco

  • Dried fruit tagines. My favorite was lamb or beef with apricots and prunes.
  • Mint tea, everywhere
  • Gardens in Marrakesh. Beautiful gardens with tiles, desert plants, water features and fruiting trees!
  • Cooking class in Essaouira.
  • My favorite place was Essaouira, but Priscilla preferred Marrakesh.
  • Escaping into our Riad. Entering a Riad doorway is like a portal to another world.
  • Desert Trip to Erg Chebbi, particularly the camel ride and sightseeing along the drive.
