Last week on Koh Tao

Our last week in Thailand, oh no! We’ve loved almost everything about Koh Tao and we’re really excited to go diving around the world! During our remaining time in Thailand, we saw all the sunsets, went fun diving, and snorkeled multiple locations.

We went on two fun dives, to the east side of the island at Laem Thian and to Shark Island. Shark Island had a pretty strong current going through it, but also had much healthier coral. We were a bit nervous about using our certification for the first time, but it all went really well.

The forecast was for rain the entire week, but we managed to (mostly) dodge it and do some amazing snorkeling. Our favorite snorkeling place on the island was Ao Luek, which has two separate reefs right off the shore and plenty of beach chairs/umbrellas to take a break in. There is an entry fee, of course, but it’s worth it. Paying an entry fee is common on Koh Tao, even for viewpoints along a hike.

The sunset from our favorite happy hour place down in the town of Sairee.

Beautiful ship at a mooring:

Favorite things during our last week on Koh Tao:

  • Ao Luek bay and beach, particularly snorkeling off the left side of the beach
  • Scuba diving! Can’t wait to use it again on the Great Barrier Reef
  • Sunsets, obviously
